CCL’s SIGHT & SOUND OUT NOW!

Thursday, 12 July, 2012 by Joe

The following is the original press release found at YepRock!
###

On a recent summer evening in downtown Raleigh, NC, Chatham County Line set up shop at a stately theater filled with hundreds of their most devoted fans and captured for the ages what they do best: gathering around a single microphone to play and sing their own songs. The result, the album and video collection Sight & Sound, is an essential document of one of the finest acoustic ensembles North Carolina has ever produced. In a state rich with bluegrass, folk and country legends, this quartet stands out for its left-of-center approach, bringing a rock ‘n’ roll sensibility to roots forms in a manner that appeals to traditional and contemporary camps alike.

Sight & Sound includes 20 tracks drawing from all five albums of the band’s decade-long career. Nine songs appear on both the audio CD/LP and the DVD; four are exclusive to the DVD, while the CD/LP expands the collection with seven more tracks. See the full track listing for the album HERE. Click the player below to watch the band perform “Crop Comes In” from Sight & Sound.

By more updates… I actually meant several months…

As I write this update, our boys from across the line, “CCL” as they are affectionately known by those too lazy to pronounce the full eloquence of the band’s name, I am sitting in San Francisco International Airport. CCL recently wrapped up a tour of the West Coast and I’m sure they brought down the house. California is already beautiful, so pairing it with the uninterrupted sounds of Chatham County Line is certain to entertain throes of Californians.

A big thing is happening however in just two days (as of this writing)… Chatham County Line is paying in Richmond, VA! They are performing at the well-known Richmond Folk Festival October 15, 1:00 – 1:45 PM and again at 5:00-5:45 PM on the Altria Stage. On October 16, they are playing at 4:30 – 5:30 PM at the Community Fund Stage. So if you’re in the area this weekend, or even if you aren’t, make the short trip to help CCL rock the festival. You know they always do.

P.s. I know it’s been too long for an update, so for that I apologize. In any case, we press onward. Onward to Richmond! See you all there.

Updates coming soon…

Thursday, 19 May, 2011 by Joe

So we’ve been a little lax with site and band updates here, but rest assured, good things are coming.

Just a mild update from the Jammin’ Java show: word on the CCL street is that the DVD is progressing along this year, although still no release date. For those who are unaware, our beloved band Chatham County Line has filmed and I would assume is still in the process of filming shots, shows, happenings, festivals and southern banter to include on the DVD all to bring a warm smile to your face. Seriously though, a DVD is a major undertaking for any band and we wish the boys the best of luck. More details will ensure once we hear them.

On other news, Chatham County Line is also getting back to Europe later this year. More details are on their tour page, but if you’re in the general vicinity of Europe, then I would find the nearest respected musical establishment that coincides with CCL’s tour dates and head there. Heck, we might even been updating this blog from Europe should we traverse the continents with the gentlemen. Should that occurrence take root, be sure that videos and blogs will be wildly written and promptly posted.

And on our last bit of news, a Richmond, Virginia festival has invited none other than Chatham County Line to share the sweet sounds with the tired town of Richmond that will bring new life to the musical hotspot that our state’s capital already is. The local legend has it that this festival is one of most prestigious accounts, in other words its real music at its finest. No genre is safe here. Don’t miss it!

CCL does Christmas right!

Tuesday, 21 December, 2010 by Joe

Unfortunately, we were unable to make it to the Pour House this anniversary show. Too bad, because anyone else in our sorry situation (not seeing Chatham rock it live with a multitude of instruments) definitly missed out it seems. See video above to feel remorse and joy. Tis’ the season.

We wish you a Merry Christmas.

Exclusive Interview: Chatham County Line
December 5, 2010
by: Chuck Norton

Forming in 1999 in Raleigh, NC, Chatham County Line has craved out a niche in the modern, ever-shifting, musical landscape. First drawing interest from Bluegrass aficionados a decade ago, the band’s appeal now expands into the post-indie world where genre bounds are blurred as neo-folk and country form what the band’s lead-singer and songwriter Dave Wilson calls “intelligent acoustic music”.

Along with Wilson – whose band Stillhouse led to the meeting of his current band-mates – banjoist Chandler Holt, multi-instrumentalist John Teer and up-right base player Greg Readling, the band’s line-up stability is impressive. This has no-doubt allowed the band to continue to increase their base while continuing to release albums that garner critical attention.
